New Engine Cradle, Aligned, Now Steering Wheel is Off. Fix?
New Engine Cradle, Aligned, Now Steering Wheel is Off. Fix?
After a low speed wreck I had to put an engine cradle under my car along with a spindle, lower control arm, and tie rod end. The car still pulls a hair at low speed, but that's as good as anyone could expect, I guess.
But, my steering wheel is pointed to the right. Is there any way to fix that? Can you just take the wheel off and put it back on straight?

What would they do? They have pretty well washed their hands of it. I have seen a lot of people have their wheel off center after an alignment. I don't want to be one of them. It's annoying as hell.

Adjustment of the tie rod ends will fix the problem...When the shop did the alignment they evidently failed to pay attention to the steering wheel position. It is an easy fix, but still unacceptable...I would take it back and have them adjust it. (for free of course!)

Well, guess the general consensus is to take it back and have them get the steering wheel centered. I'll see what they say.
Thanks, all.
Thanks, all.

Part of an alignment it to center the steering wheel. After checking alignment they should have locked the steeing wheel straight and then adjusted the tierods to get the alignment correct. There may still be a problem with the car if this cannot be done but it sounds like they just took your money and threw you out the door... take it back and have them do it right or demand a refund!

having done alignments myself I can tell you that they are not always text book. You can follow the rules to the T and have everything perfect when it leaves and still come back wrong. But in that case there is nothing that they can do other then put it back in and try again. They either just did it too fast, didn't lock the wheel, or didn't move the wheel a second time and then lock it down again and re check.. Go back and give them hell.
