New Car Help Please

Got a new Z28 today. 93 A4, runs great, some mods, tons of power, $1800. Needs some paint and interior work. Bought ,then had a few problems. I can't complain for $1800, but here is whats going on. Under hard acceleration, usually shifting to 1st if i hit it a low speeds, or from a stop, there is a clunk in the tranny tunnel that sounds like the transmission is jumping up and hitting the tunnel, and now when i put it in OD the car revs free like the shifter missed, but when i go to D it drives fine. Any ideas? I was thinking maybe the mounts or crossmember broke and knocked the shifter out of whack when it bumped once. Not sure. But im still very happy with this car, only the hood and few small spots need repainted, the drivers' seat needs recovered, and it needs a new dash mat. Tons of power, it leaves a good 3 foot black mark on the 1-2 shift, now if i could just get it fixed that would be great. Some pics will be up soon. Any Ideas?

Re: New Car Help Please

The clunk is the transmission mount. Cheap 10 dollar item at any auto store.

The non-existant OD could be the transmission itself. When my transmission went out I lost 2nd and 4th. If you put it in manual second, and there is no gear then it might be on its way out.

Tranny almost dead.....? I would assume that's why it was sold for $1800.......

Re: New Car Help Please

For 1800 bucks, you probably already knew that the car would have some surprises and need some work. It definitely sounds like you need a new tranny mount and I'm sure the car is in need of a tranny rebuild as well. When you get the tranny rebuilt, put a higher stall converter in there as well and leave some even longer black marks.

Got under and found it, transmission mount is broke, the guy i bought it from broke it once before and "forgot" to tell me. It messed the linkage up it looks like. And the tranny doesnt need rebuilt, it only is acting up cause my dad broke the tranny mount power braking it. Thanks for your help guys.
