I'm having some trouble figuring out how to take the parking brake off my 2000 Trans Am in order to drop the rear end. The only place that makes sense to remove it from is the area near the calipers... any thoughts on how to actually remove it?

I don't remember how it comes off, but a cheater move I used to do was

-get 2 wire coat hangars...
-unhook the rear brakes
-hang rear brakes from the fenderwell, I forgot how I did it but I did
-bend up the tabs and unhook all the hardware holding the e-brake and hardlines down.

Drop rear end out of the car, never unhooking the rear brakes from the system.

Pull on the forward part of the cable housing to allow slack to slide the cable out of the bracket near the back of the caliper. Then slip the end of the cable off the parking brake lever. It's kind of like how you deal with bicycle cables.
