need help ASAP security problems
ok so my car wont start, its a 95 camaro, i turn the key and nothing happens, the start procedure happens (headlights turn off etc when you push it to start mode) the little security light starts flashing at me, which leads me to believe the starter kill wont turn off. we checked the neutral safety switch (auto) and the fuel pump turns on, lots of juice in the battery. i even tried dissconnecting the battery too for 30 min, hooked it all up, but still wont even click the soleniod in the starter, then that stupid light starts flashing again. its either got to be the key or the ignition module, do any of you guys know how to dissable it? cuz i need to get the car home, its stuck at the racetrack believe it or not lol and i only got the race weekent to figure this out, thanks
Re: need help ASAP security problems
you probably need a Ign tumbler. the test
Use a DVOM digital volt ohm meter, to find the resistence value of the pellet in the key. Record this reading. Go under the dash and find the 2 wire connector that holds the ign tumbler wires. they are 2 small white wires in an orange sheeth. unplug it. While still reading ohms stick one prob in one termonal of the connector going to the colum and the other probe on the other termonal of the same connector. Then turn the key to the on position. The meter should read the same value as the key. If it reads different then you have a bad connetion, if it reads open or infinet then you have a broken wire. the fix for a broken wire is a new key tumbler. but you can bypass the system by linking resisters from radio shack in series untill you have the same value as in the key. then with the 2 wire connector unpluged insert the resister in a U shape in termonal of the connector going out to the computer. then your car will start
