Need help

Ok, I bought this car a couple of months ago and need to change the brake pads. I didnt realize when I bought the car that it has locking lug nuts. Of course I didnt get a key for them. How in the world do i get these things off????

Alsooooo, every nut is the same. So, I have 20 locked lug nuts. Aaaaaannnddd, If I chisel them off, I dont know what I am going to do to replace them. The holes for the lug nuts are super small, and I dont think I can fit a regular lug nut in their places. The locking nuts that are on there are pretty small.

Anyway, is there any way I can find a key for these?????

The easiest way is probably trying to get in touch with the individual/dealer you got the car from. If they put them on, or got them from someone who did, they probably still have the key.

If that is not an option, I would call around to different tire shops. I'm sure they could get them off for you without having to cut the bolts.

If that still doesn't work, I stripped one of my wheel lug bolts before, and the dealer didn't charge me too much to have it replaced with a new one. This would probably be the most expensive option, but if there's no other choice, then this will at least take care of the problem.

I appreciate it guys. I did some research and found a guy on ebay that has the attachment that I need to get these off. It is called a spline socket. I already ordered it and should be getting it next week sometime.

Thanks for your help though.

I had a simillar problme on a 97 bird trying to do the front brakes (after sears decided to keep my lug nut lock key-socket when they did my allignment).. anways I got them off by taking a 13/16 socket and hammered it onto the lock lug nuts and then used a manual impact wrench to brake the wheel lug nuts loose and then finsihed braking it loose with a 1/2 inch braker bar (pulled the lock lug nut of withount doing any damage to the threads); after doing this a relaced the lock lug nuts with regular lug nuts (about $2-3 each at Bennette auto parts house).. but I only had to do 2 (1 on each front side on my car) so for your case it probably would be chaper to get the offical lock key online or something (geuss $10-20??)

for future referance, Belle tire usually has them in stack, those are "Tuner" lugs(not locking, all of them are the same, locking lugs are sets of 4)
