Thumbs up N00b from Orlando looking to purchase a 97 RS!

Currently the owner of a 2000 sentra se and member of other forums. Back about 6-7 years ago I owned a 30th anniversary black Z28. I''m looking to get back in the camaro game and purchase a 97 RS. The car only has 59,320 miles on it!
The place I''m looking to purchase it from has it listed currently at $6900. I went in there today and put an offer down and they refused. They called me after I left and said we will take $6500 out the door. I personally think this is still too high and when I left I handed them my business card and told them to call me in 3 weeks. For an 11 year old car the body is good with the front fascia little scuffed underneath, scratch in hood, few scratchs in back bumper and the normal wear and tear for an 11 year old car. The tires do need to be replaced because they are at about 4/32''''. The alternator has recently been replaced as well.
The interior is pretty basic with no power mirrors, windows, cd and keyless entry. It does have t tops which is very important to me. What do ya''''ll think? Is there anything else in particular I should be aware of?

Thanks for your help in advance!

if the car is at a dealership, you can usually look up the price of a similar camaro in that condition on KBB, and show it to them. Sometimes this makes them change their mind and sometimes it doesnt. If the price is above what you're looking for though, I obviously wouldnt show them.

Buy the v8, also 7k for a 97 rs is crazy high. If I was to buy a v6 absolute max I would ever go is 5k and that would have to be in godly condition.

Thanks for the reponse guys, I really appreciate it. I would love to have the V-8 but i got this little problem called a TERRIBLE driving record. Think of it this way, I pay 280 a month with esurance for a POS econobox with no collision.

Edmunds puts this car at 4500 and Nada puts it at 6450.

6500 and the car has no power windows....That would drive me crazy. I feel the car is worth 4000-4500 max...

No way I would pay that much for a V6 f-body. I would keep looking, chances are you will find something private party for much cheaper.

I wish I could man but insurance is just to high for me.

I knew this price was pretty high regardless of the miles on it.

The lack of power windows doesn't bother me that much because I know the windows are huge and it's one less motor I may have to worry about.

Go through Geico and just say its a show car for the weekends. Then put your car in "storage" in the winter. For my car and truck its only $110 and my record isn't that great.

Geico won't accept me because of the tickets I have received. I used to have State Farm when I lived in NY. I had a blazer then a civic for my winter beater.
