Re: my first idea.. me need feed back!

well, i hear that flowtechs have cheap welds and are very cheap in general.... im sure teke will say otherwise, i would recomend going with some pacesetters... i have personally seen the fitment and all was 98% perfect, the welds were good and everything.

As for your fetish with the color black, get over it, because that high temp black paint is crappy and will come off; also it will allow your headers to rust... they have a high temp cermamic coating which everyone will recomend on this board because it will make the headers not rust... i think there are specials here and there for like ~500 bucks for coated pacesetters w/ off road y pipe

the slp ram air induction is crappy, with that 130 just save up 70 more and buy Super sucker ram air, it works way better as a "ram air" since the duct work will go right infront of your air dam which allows for air to be forced into the duct better, i recall the website saying 13rwhp at 60 mph....

as for loudmouth II, i honestly am not too sure on that, someone with more experience will help you out more with that, but if you dont want rasp you need some hi-flow cats because that will allow clean up the sound a bit due to the slight restriction they put on flow. i know that loud mouth I sounds very loud and raspy with the ory and Lts so I is out of the question for you

on that bassani y pipe you are looking at, that is for stock manifolds and if you are putting LTs on that car of yours, you will need a different one aka this one wont work...

you can buy some mangnaflow cats or random cats that are high flow.... which like i said will clean up the sound.... kinda pricey though

and i know the things i put on here obviously cost more than what you planned, but...they are good parts and will suit your car well if what you want is quality, dont buy cheap crap becaues you will regret it in the end...

and on that intake manifold, wait tilla used one comes up because slp charges too much... they will cost ~300 used: this is a good mod since it will improve power all across the powerband

Re: my first idea.. me need feed back!

if you are running an automatic, you might look into getting a torque converter. Also, I second the black paint on the headers as being a bad idea unless you like fixing the holes you will get from the rust. Cermaic coating is the way to go there. If you want cats, tsp is running a sell with coated pacesetter LTs with catted y pipe for 700. www.texas-speed.com. If you want a quiet exhaust, you might look into magnaflow catback as it is much quieter than the SLP LM 2 or any other LM exhaust. LS6 intake is a good idea and will help alot as well as any air lid that you find. Just see what cost right, looks the way you want (they all perform about the same).

Re: my first idea.. me need feed back!

the flowtechs are exactly what they are...inexpensive. but functional. who really cares how sexy the welds look? as long as they hold. and get the ceramic coating, you won't regret it. it will reduce engine bay temps, and prevent alot of burned plug wires. you can always paint the headers with black paint over the coating.

the ypipe from flowtech fit PERFECT for me. every clearance was dead on.

if you hate loud and raspy....don't get the LM.

and the SSRA is significantly better than the SLP or FTRA setups. neither of those are actually much of a ram air, more of just a cold air setup. the SSRA functions as a cold air intake at slower speeds and becomes a true ram air setup at higher. although i think it takes higher speeds than 60 to see it...more like 75+.

and the rumor about the rain. i honestly think it was created after some idiot drove his car full speed through a small lake. and for the past 4yrs everyone has been perpetuating the thought that they are bad in the rain. i've personally driven my car in hurricane rains (south florida) and some very heavy downpours with no problems. stopped once under a bridge and checked...not a drop of water in the air box after 1hr of near blinding rain.

obviously if you go through a puddle that is 10" deep at 50mph...you're in trouble...but for more reasons than some water in your engine. even going through deep water slow will not suck in water. there is a break in the scoop where it goes around the hood latch support, so it's not totally sealed. there is no way for the engine to create enough suction to draw water up a 2x15" scoop, especially with openings to allow air in. that's plain physics. so if you drive smart..you're fine.

now about the SLP intake manifold...why spend $500 for one with the EGR provision when you are getting LTs with an orp? spend $250 and get a use LS6 intake off the for sale forum or Ebay.

out of curiosity...do you already have a lid?? cause that's a "do first" with these cars.

don't mean to side track the thread but I bought the SLP cold air kit and want to convert it to the SSRA. Who sells the lower scoop besides LMPerformance.

check the vendors...not sure. but from what i've seen all the places that sell the SSRA do it for the same price. so why not just buy it from LMp

send a PM to SS1LE02 he is the designer of the SSRA.

well as far as the "specialist" goes...he's probably just trying to sell you parts. of course he's gonna push the companies he sells.

and what is he saying that is contradictory?

as for a site. there is no ONE site that has the lowest prices. just shop around the site vendors. they are there for a reason. and keep an eye on the group purchase forum...sales are pretty common. in a given month just about anything major or common that you need to buy goes on sale at one of the vendors at least once.
sometimes its a specific sale, sometimes it's double online discounts, sometimes its free shipping.

just shop around, that's not something we can do for you

How do you feel about the color of rust? They would only be black till you start the engine for the first time.
