Just my 2 cents worth. After 3 years of a LoudMouth and or chambered muffler. I just put the stock muffler back on saturday. I find no real difference in seat of the pants driving. If anything Im driving faster and pulling more rpm before shifting because its so damm quiet. No worries about the noise. Or cops Its actually fun to drive the car again. So think hard about it before you change anything.

yeah but there is a dyno proven hp from the cat-back... and no cop is going to pull you over for a LM1 or a chambered muffler.... i drive by cops with open cutout and nothing....

Re: Mellow tone mufflers?

I like to think that I've got the best of both worlds. When I had my exhaust finished up (after installing the headers & high-flow cat), I told the shop that I wanted "the quietest performance muffler you have". I wound up with a 3"-in/3"-out Magnaflow, which seems to work pretty well, despite being really quiet. When I want to "make a little noise" I just open the e-cutout.

This way, I have good flow, no worries about cops, & the roar of a modded V8 any time I want it...

I also just got a stock muffler for mine for all the same reasons. cant wait to have it installed, and I am looking for a cutout.

Look for a used system off a WS6 TA. It has a significant difference in tone over a stock Z28 exhaust. Im sure its not as freeflowing but sounds very nice and mellow.
