Man I hate dealers, can someone competent please help

This is really just another stupid security light question, but you can say its the dealer's fault. When I bought my car about 6 months ago, the security light was on, and has stayed one ever since. I went to a dealer to get a spare key made, and he gave me what seemed like a working key. After a while, I got fed up with the security light and went about bypassing the whole thing. In order to do that, I had to get the resistance on the key. After going to a dealer, a radio shack and doing it myself, all the tests showed no resistance in the original key. The new key is a #3 with 680 ohm, but how could they have known to make it this value if the original key didn't have anything? Anyway, both keys will start the car no problem, the only problem with them is the security light comes on whenever the key is in the ignition, and whenever I lock the doors with the electric switch, the alarm goes off when I unlock the doors from the outside. Does anybody have any idea what's going on or how to fix this?

If they looked up the record for the VIN, they could tell what pellet they needed for the key. If they took the car back in the shop, they could also put an "interrogator" on the car to find the information from the VATS module.

If the light is still on with the new key, they either did not make you a correct key or the key is not your problem. Try the resistor bypass with a resistor that matches your new key. That could help isolate the problem for you.
