Ok so I bought an LT1 block that was already drilled for splayed caps. BUT the guy I bought it from doesnt have the stock caps or the caps used to drill the splayed holes. he thinks there 18 degree but doesnt know the manufacturer.

My question is, can I use the front and rear main cap from my engine (lt1) on this block and how bad is it to use different caps than the ones used to drill the splayed holes?

 

pretty sure you would just have to get the line bore checked.

i dont know though, free bump for someone that does know

 

Thanks man. thats pretty much what I was thinking but if it was already line bored would I have to run larger bearings or a +.010 on the crank? this is only my 3rd engine build and its the first dealing with anything other than stock caps....
