when i bought my 1998 z28, it didn't have the lugnut key with it and it looks as though every single one of the lugnuts is the locking kind. anyhow, my buddy has a 2000 ss. Would his key work with my wheels? prolly not..

 

No I don't think it will I had a similar problem the tire shop got them off for me and I went and bought regular lugnuts from the dealer and had them put those on.

 

i seen over kill with 5 differant styles per wheel but i keep one locknut per wheel on. not that i have fancy wheels, but some of the tires can be expensive.

 

Just take the car to a tire shop, they should be able to get them off for you. The chances of your buddies key working on your car is very slim.

 

GM only has about 8-10 different lock patterns. If they are all the same just go to the dealer. When mine was lock they just gave me one of each to take outside to find the right one.

 

Sears and Pep Boys sell a removal socket for when this happens. I haven't looked for them at any other auto parts stores, but they may have them too.
