Lucus oil

During the winter cold my 99 ss makes a knocking sound from the engine for about 5 secs. from the start up. I was thinking about putting lucus syn. additive to it. Has anyone else used this before, and is there anyone who feels this would be a bad idea? Any suggestions please.

Why not fix the problem, rather than trying to cover it up? If there even is a problem.... a little bit of piston slap in cold weather is not unusual. What viscosity oil are you using? What is the lowest ambient temperature you see on cold start?
