lubrication . . . not what you think

I have tried several common products while trying to get my doors to stop sqeaking, with no success. Things like WD-40, grey lub that my dad had, etc. Anyone know of something good and cheap so I will not have to hear that annoying sound every time I open my door?

Thanks

Cameron

Silicone spray works pretty good. White lithium is good stuff as well and wont go away like sprays

I used some key grease on mine. It's very similar to white lithium except it's a bit thicker...almost like cold pudding. Seems to work great

Re: lubrication . . . not what you think

a common mistake people make when trying to lubricate something is using a product like WD-40

it reallly isn't a long term lube. it evaporates fairly quickly. and at the same time it disolves and washes away any previous lube that was on there.

it is ideal for losening rusted or corroded parts, but following it's use, the piece should be lubed witha propper grease or oil.

Re: lubrication . . . not what you think

white lithium in a spray can will work the best for you. When it first comes out of the can it's wet, after a couple minutes it thickens up. This is good because when it's wet it runs down in the places where you want it and then turns thick. With other grease, you just have to hope that it works it's way into the squeaky spot.
