Lubricating Windows?

I'm sure I have read somethign about this on the board in the past but I can't seem to find anything relevant using the search function . . . but I was wondering what if anything can be recomended to lube up the windows/their tracks?

I'm having some trouble with mine - they seem to be binding - only going up part way at a time then cutting out then I let it sit and it will go up some more

It might be the motor on its way out - but as far as I know they are usually a work or don't work kinda thing.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Unfortunately, lubricating them won't do anything. I tried several times and they still stop after going up/down an inch or two. You will need to replace the motor or do the mod thats been mentioned on several previous threads which require opening up the motor and sodering some wire. I personally ordered a new motor since they're only $40 new.

I had the same exact problem and at first I thought it was the track binding but it turned out to be the window motor as well. Surprisingly, it wasn't that expensive as I paid only fifty bucks if I recall correctly.

Re: Lubricating Windows?

All true, but you should lub the tracks and rollers during the motor install. It will help extend the life of the motor. Clean them and apply a light coat of white lithium grease. Usually comes in a spray can.

Re: Lubricating Windows?

Thanks for the help guys - I was afraid it was the motor, but was hoping you know.

I will look for an after market motor - the GM Dealer wants $200 (CDN) for a new motor and they don't sell it separately from the window regulator.
