LT4 Over Rated?

As I looked at a complete LT4 package for sale on here I thought woah thats sexy. But I got to thinking......

My car stock is rated at 285hp

Werent the Lt4's 330hp?

So I have to ask: Cant I spend $2400 on different head/cam "package" and make more power?

Better yet....with the right COMPLETE exhaust and the "normal" bolt ons shouldnt the right cam alone make 45hp?!?

The LT4 is generally seen as outdated. Its a solid package, but power for money spent (value) is better if you go another direction. Most people tend to prefer the Advanced Induction or Lloyd Elliot packages. Some people, however, are happy with the LT4 kit because it fits thier HP goals.

Hope this helps you.

I believe the LT4 package comes with a different cam than the production version, the "hot-cam." I think the actual power output is about 330-340 at the wheels, maybe more. I have this setup, but have never had it dynoed and need to have it retuned I believe. This setup should be good for ~12.8 ETs

totally agree with these posts. $ 4 $ you can beat that power with LE1 package. Even if you didnt want a lopey cam, he will set you up with something that runs/drives like stock, but still puts out power at the wheels to beat that setup and still save $.

I am sure he does LT4 heads/intake, they are the same family as the LT1. The best thing to do would be to email him or call him and go straight to the source. He is very helpful as others here have stated.
