He didnt pull much when you hit it from a roll, but then you got him from a complete stop, even though your tires were spinning, but he got you even worse on the second run?
Did you win or not ever?
Basically the difference with the LS1 and the LS6 engines is the top end. They share the same block, but the LS6 has higher flowing heads, a more aggressive cam, and if Im not mistaken 1.6 rockers vs 1.5. The LS6 was only stock in vettes, so I would wager that the kid had the different heads / cam on a LS1.
Re: lt1 vs. ls6
first what does your title have to do with your post???LT1 vs LS6 does not have anything to do with what suspension mods you need. Also, what all do you have done to your car??
As far as suspension, I would start with some subframe connectors. Then get some control arms and maybe even a torque arm.

Re: lt1 vs. ls6
Shocks are nice, but the subframe connectors and the control arms are going to help the car squat better. I would personally do the lower control arms first, followed but the torque arm and a panhard rod. The subframe connectors are nice, and really stiffen up the body as well.
Re: lt1 vs. ls6
Hmmmm.... this is LT1/LT4 Engine Tech, and you haven't even mentioned what's done to your engine. Now we're wandering off on "suspension".
I'll move this to "General F-body Tech".... and that way the guys who own LS1's can offer some input too.

- LS6 has its own block, slightly different from the LS1 (although a handful of '01/'02 cars got the LS6 block
).- LS6 has different (better flowing) heads and higher lift cam
- LS6 has a better intake than '98 - '00 LS1's, but '01/'02 shared the "LS6" intake
Both engines have 1.7 roller rockers though
).If that kid you raced had an LS6 in his car, and if your LT1 is relatively stock, then he obviously doesn't know how to drive. Z06 Corvettes ('from '01 - '04, with the LS6) are mid-low 12-second cars stock, and some can be run into the 11's with just a little good driving and sticky tires
. LS1's are typically ~13-second cars (real good ones hit high 12's stock).
