lt1 tach and fuel gauge?

this pertains only to the 1997 model year.
what ohm is the fuel gauge? the standard 0-90 ohm i hope. cant find this info anywhere.
can you take a stock tach, and hook directly to a MSD 6AL tach output, or does it have to be wired threw the ECM or a conversion box(dakota) 1st?
thanks in advance.

Re: lt1 tach and fuel gauge?

88 ohms = full
60 ohms = 3/4
43 ohms = 1/2
26 ohms = 1/4
1 ohm = empty

Not sure about the tach.

Re: lt1 tach and fuel gauge?

The MSD 6AL instructions say a 'Bypass in-line filter' needs to be used for GM tachs. Manual here

I left the wiring stock on my setup with the tach running off the ECM. In the MSD support section it has something on tach operation with GM vehicles to remove filter and use one of 2 MSD tach adapters. You gotta call MSD tech supp. to find out which one.
