Re: LT1 guys inside

I probably won't swap my LT1 for an LS1, but if I ever do another swap, I might put an LS1 in there.

My LT1 is handing plenty of LS1s their asses with bolt ons. With 112 mph trap speeds(before the blower), it is apparent that my LT1 doesn't fall off on the big end

Re: LT1 guys inside

Well I have one of each (both in my sig) and like them both, but my LS1 would absolutely rape the living $hit out of my LT1 from any kind of rolling start or once the revs go over 3,000 rpm... Even when my LS1 was factory bone stock, it still would pull my LT1 hard at any rpm (and my LT1 is no slouch BTW).

And I've never been sure what all of this "LT1's have more low-end torque or feel torquier down low" stuff is. I've been in some others (modded too) and actually own one with some 3.73 gears and my LS1 comes out of the whole every bit as hard as the LT1 does. In fact, the LS1 feels quicker off the line than any factory geared LT1 I've drove or been in. Maybe you guys just confuse the slightly "rougher" feel of the LT1 powerband for it feeling stronger down low...

I love both and want to keep both, but if I decide to buy a house next spring, it's buy-buy LS1 since that will make it easy to do so. And I'll still be very happy with the LT1 I just purchased since I have big plans for it too...

Mike

Heh, this is an easy one for me, LT1 all the way. I love the bottom end sound of this motor besides the "more race feel" it puts off. Not even a question in my mind.

I was kind of dissappointed that the interior was the same...But once you hit the gas, you know its not the same car.
...when you realize there is no torque

I test drove a 01 SS a few years ago, and I was very dissapointed. Then again I think all 02 owners have put down great dyno #'s, so maybe Id be happy with one of them.

I decided to keep my LT1 forever at that point. If and when the 5th gens arrive, I may pic one of those up, and park it in the garage next to my LT1

Are you saying the LS1 has no torque?
Sorry to say, BUT the LS1's dyno graph beats the LT1 in torque, and Horse Power at ALL RPMs. Plus as far as I know the 02 and 01 had the same motor. Look at the curves for each, I think the LS1 curve might amaze you

Yeah the LT1 does have a better "Butt Dyno" feeling, but I promise you my 02 with just a lid, and a cutout would still over power my sold 93 Z28 I had that had Jethots, 3.73s, CAI, Catback, Cutout, etc.. etc...

Plus with an LS1 you get more than a motor:
Front end. (Camaros, I guess this is If you like it... Personally I still love the 93 ~ 97 Front more)
Better interior, 97 + Camaro dash and console is way better than 93 ~ 96
Better Brakes: drive one of each and then call me a liar

how does an ls1 beat the lt1 in torque at like 2400 rpms where the ls1 doesnt have near as much down there

now, i'll disagree with you on the interiors, i love the 93-96 interiors
way more stylish and less generic like other cars (jmho)

o, and about the curves, check out the curves on the ls1 vs. ls2 dyno graphs
talk about making the ls1 look bad (although i like it )

dyno proven hundreds of times. The LS-1 makes as much/more torque and HP through out the entire RPM band as LT-1 cars. 98-02 all dyno average about ~300rwhp ~320rwtq, 01-02 cars have the ls-6 intake, but smaller cams. 98-00 got more aggressive cams (with 00 being the biggest stock), but didn't have the ls-6 intake. It all evens out. You be happy with your seat of the pants "torque monster," meanwhile you can watch LS-1 taillights disappearing from the green light on up.

Also, if the LS2 does that to an LS1, imagine what the LS2 will do to an LT1

No, not from the green light on up. Ive never been beaten off the line by a stock LS1. They always caught and passed me later, but I always won out of the hole.

As I said, when driving 3 different 00-01 SS cars, I was very disapointed, the car just felt weak. It was probably just because the engine is smoother and such, but it felt weak. I'll stick with my LT1

That's a load of crap...what are you doing rounding off the number 270? You must be reading too much fantasy fiction, I know all you Ls1 guys love to hear the numbers but in reality those cars only average around 260-280 depending on what transmission is in them

Ls1's are nothing compared to an Lt1...they look funny, they have a dashboard that looks like a gapbot is sitting right in the middle, they don't sound near as good, or feel as good, or look as good...

I think they missed the ball with the Ls1 camaro..I thought I saw one comin up on me the other day, nope it was a chrylser....hahah whew got scared there for a sec...NOT!

last i checked, from about 1000-up is the entire rpm range (depending on what you idle at, etc.)
if you can find me something that has from 3000-down, i'll consider it

also, that is so skewed, look at the mods the z28 has
in no way a fair comparison and stock for stock (especially being compared corvette vs. z28)

and in response to your other post, the lt1 and ls2 are both better than the ls1 in torque curves
the lt1 is known for having a very broad torque curve, just as the ls2 is now
the ls1 was always off on its torque curve and that's why most power isn't 'felt' til about 3000 rpms

you gotta realize that your ls1 is in no way perfect and has only a few advantages over the lt1 just as the lt1 has a few advantages over the ls1

as for you my friend...you have been

I am going to have to concur with this statement. I have never seen ls1 torque below 3000 rpms. so you cant say it rapes an lt1 at all rpms. id like to see a graph from 1500 up of both engines. that is what will be the final proof.
