lt1 front end

I know there are alot of threads about these kind of front clip conversions, but nobody has actually come forward and said that they have successfully converted a 98+ camaro to a 97- front end. Im just curious, and wouldnt mind seeing some pics. Do the lt1 parts match up seamlessly? I know theres some sort of fitment issue with the nose, but can it be corrected with minimal fabrication and not look incorrect when done? Some are against these conversions, but I find it pretty cool that you can match the nicer body of the lt1s with the superior engine of the ls1s, its kind of like putting a hot body on that girlfriend of yours with a great personality

No, I dont have one, Im just curious. Ive read about it in the past but havent really found any answers. From the looks of your user name, looks like youve got a trans am. Im talkin about a camaro, I prefer the ls1 front clip of a t/a over the lt1 version.

I believe you can't use the lid type intake, you gotta go to a regular CAI(or fab up something), the newer style fenders, hood, front clip(obviously), lights, etc.

I have heard from some that the LT1 hood is too low and you'll need a cowl or something, but I'm not 100% on that.

I have heard this too, this is what prompted the redesign of the hood in 1998.

Re: lt1 front end

An LS1 is like an inch and a half taller than an LT1 motor, or something like that. It wont clear the stock LT1 hood. It might be possible that it would if you removed some of the insulation? Im not really sure. But I do know that swapping an LS1 into an LT1 car is supposed to be way more work than it is worth. If you swapped the front clip, you wouldnt be able to have a "lid" style intake, which is proven to flow better than a regular CAI, as it is a straighter design with less flow restrictions.

Re: lt1 front end

OR you could get away with one of those Ultra-Z hoods with the LT1 front end? Best of both worlds I think.

Re: lt1 front end

lol I think the LT1 front end looks the best, the Z28 hood is sweeter than the SS. Eww and LT1 style trans ams, yucky. LS1 Ram Airs though, theres something thats pretty to look at.

Re: lt1 front end

I heard that it is an inch taller, but will fit under an ss hood. if you would like to stay lid style, you need a harwood or ultra z hood
