ls1 starts like it has no compression, dead miss no. 7 cyl
Hey all,
I just purchased my first LS1 car. It's a 98 T/A auto with t-tops. I runs really, really strong, but has a dead miss on no. 7. I swapped coil packs, replaced the injector and it made no difference. The other day I went to start it, and it had a hard time starting and acted like it had no compression. The car has 242k miles on it, but is in awesomeshape, other than the misfire, of course.
Where is the first place to check. I doubt it's ever had any kind of valvetrain work, and I doubt that it's been over-revved. It was driven by a 17 y/o girl for a while, and I wonder if it just needs the valve train gone through, or should I yank that engine and try to find another.
Basically, I'm looking for advise on what steps to take to start with the easy stuff first.
Thanks,
Chris

Check compression on #7 cylinder. Compression could test good cranking with a broken valve spring, so you still may need to take a look at things. If that's good, you have try to verify injector pulse with a noid light and coil pack signal.
