loud car

i took my car on a 1200 mile trip this weekend and couldn't help but notice how loud it is. I brought it to a local tire shop and they said it was the tires. it sounds like woo woo woo woo(deep tone) and the volume of the noise is progressive with the speed of the car...any input????

could be the tires, could be the rear end going bad, or something in the drive line wearing out.

is it strictly speed based, what if you use different gears

I know the exact noise you are talking about.
My tires make it.

They have a bit of an aggressive sidewall though......

If it was the gears going south - you likely wouldn't notice it until you were going highway speeds at a low rpm.
