Looking to buy this 2001 SS got some ?s
Looking to buy a 2001 Camaro SS T-Tops, A4, Black on Black leather 61,000 miles. It's being sold by the original owner who bought the car for his daughter to drive when she was in high school. The car is 100% stock and appears to have never had any mods even has stock exhaust. The guy lives in a very expensive subdivision so $30,000 grand for a new car would be no problem. He also has the original documentation, tax receipt and window sticker to prove this.
Condition of the car would be somewhere from good to excellent. Chrome ZR1 wheels look good with some curbing on the edges. Top has some bubbling or pitting at the edge by the T-Tops. Maintenance appears to have been regularly done with a Trans and coolant flush at 44,000 miles. Tires have good tread. Several chips on the driver’s door edge and two dings and a scrape on top of wheel lip on the drivers quarter panel. Normal bolster wear on drivers seat from getting in and out.
I'm a Ford guy so don't have any experience with the LS1. I noticed when first started the engine wasn't running that smooth but didn't seem to be missing per say. Car drive well and the engine has good power. After the drive I laid my hand on the engine and it was moving on the motor mounts but was consistent.
A late model Ford 4.6 V8 idles so smooth you could stack champagne glasses on it for example. Is it normal for the LS1 to shake while idling? If you placed your hand on the valve cover what should you feel?
Car needs driver’s quarter panel to be repainted to be considered excellent. Curbing on the wheels isn't that noticeable but hurts value.
Car is in Midwest, what would you pay for this car?

My 2001 SS doesnt idle as moothly as I like (thats what the seafoam treatment next week is for). See if you can get a CarFax report to see if any damage was reported. I'll say about 11 to 12 grand for that one would be a good price. The dings, I wouldnt stress out about. I bought mine with 64000 miles on it. Thats awesome that the owner still has the original windoe sticker. so do I, it's the little things that count. Overall sounds like a good deal
