Looking at a 93 Z28
Looking at a 93 Z28
Hey fellas I am looking at buying a 93 Z28 with 101,000 miles on it t-tops, A4, and power everything. They car appears to be black and looks like it is in good condition. He wants $3,600 OBO. I have not called him yet. I am new to LT1s and 4th gens in general. I do know quite a bit but am wondering what is typical with these cars that have that many miles and what I should know. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I drove a buddy of mines 95 Z and fell in love with the power.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Looking at a 93 Z28
probably the main thing is the optispark....the new fangled distributer that came on the LT1
other than that it is alot of small things, like an intake oil leak. not a big deal, but possibly a way to haggle down the $$.
check the back of th intake for oil.

Re: Looking at a 93 Z28
3600 is a great starting point. Like teke said, just find as many little things wrong and use those to talk down the price. A rear intake oil leak can be fixed for about $30 if you do it yourself, but an oil leak on a used car could drive hte price down hundreds. But pretty much plan on spending at least $500 in the first few months or so fixing stupid little things that come up. Water pump, opti, window motor, all fluids, and those little bitchy things that keep popping up like bad fan relays, thermostats, etc. etc.
Re: Looking at a 93 Z28
i agree, that price is awesome for that car. you can't expect a '93 to be a new car, especially for $3600. i'd get it as long as it wasnt pure junk. i've had two 93s and i love them. i like all 93-02 FBodys, but 93s just have that different feel than all the other model. call me crazy i guess.
Re: Looking at a 93 Z28
Hey thanks for the input guys. The car is in Brazil, IN and I'm attending school at Lincoln Tech in Indy so any work shouldn't be a major problem except for that money issue.
Re: Looking at a 93 Z28
to check for the leak just reach around to the back of the motor, youll feel a lip, rub your finger under it and do the same on the other side....a lil oil/grime will be there, but if its seeping and/or leaking profusely(sp) that=bad
