Kirkey intermediate layback seats?? who has em?
Kirkey intermediate layback seats?? who has em?
I seen Summit has these on sale with an instant rebate. I can get the 17" -10* laybacks with covers(cloth) shipped to me for $384 for a pair.
If anyone has them?: How hard are they to install in a 4th gen?
What kind of brackets need to be made?
I also have a Wolfe weld in 6 point rollbar ordered, how well will they fit between the bar(straight style down bar) and the console??
One more thing: Should I get the brackets that tie the seat backs to the crossbar on the roll bar?? I seen them in Jegs, part no. 550-40486 for the Kirkeys, for $42.99ea. that seems a bit pricey
Any information AND PICS would be very greatly appreciated..! Thanks

Andy, Thanks for the pics. Those will come in handy if I do get these. How much do you think the seat/seatbrackets weigh?? I am curious, as I am also throwing around the idea of just going with Trans Am seats. Thanks,
Dave

Lighter than stock seats. Seat brackets for these seats are a BITCH because of the uneven floor. Also, the aluminum seats are really not safe without the harness bar brace in the back. They flex too much. And you really don't want a roll bar in a street driven car. Unprotected heads impacting even padded roll bars is nasty business. These seats also have to fit tight to be effective and have a harness system That means they are uncomfortable, restrictive and it takes a few minutes to get strapped in. if I did not have to have them, I wouldn't even consider it, knowing what I know now.

Thanks again, I don't plan on driving my Camaro on the street much, just to a few local shows and to the drag strip. So the roll bar isn't much of a hassle for me. I think I am gonna go with T/A seats if I can find them with no power dr. seat in a dark color cloth.

NHRA rules require that the back of the (aftermarket) seat be connected to the cross-bar.
A 10-degree layback is a very "upright" seat. You might want to consider the 20-degree layback, or the Pro Street Drag seat (18-deg layback).
