Keyless entry - visible confirmation

Keyless entry - visible confirmation
Does anyone know if the parking lights/turn signals are supposed to flash when you push the lock/unlock button as an “visible confirmation” that you locked your vehicle ?
I noticed that quite a few newer Camaros do that.
My car came with the Keyless entry as a factory option, so I guess all the wiring is still the way the factory put it in. What could be wrong with it ?

Re: Keyless entry - visible confirmation
No, As far as LT1's go there is no visable confirmation other than the interior light coming on when you unlock it. I am not sure about the LS1's however.

Re: Keyless entry - visible confirmation
oh okay, so obviously its normal for the LT1 (93-96) not to have visible confirmation besides the interior lights....
does anyone know what I would have to "hook up" in order for my parking lights to flash when I push the lock/unlock botton ?

I would like to know as well...over on LS1Tech in the appearence section maybe a good place to post this. They have a way to hook the unlock (pushed twice) feature and make it roll down windows, etc.

I'd like some info too....
Bought a '97 Formula today, and it flashes ALL the lights when you use the remote to lock or unlock. I'd like to at least make the headlights stay put to keep the wear down on those lame plastic gears

we know that....it's already been said 97-02 flash. now quit telling us. so anyways, when you guys find out how to hook up the lights let me know. possibly a horn beep too when you lock it? why the crap don't they come with it anyways? every other GM car i've seen in the mid 90's has confirmation. i am wasting my remote's batteries because i always press the button more than needed.

Thats exactly my point, I keep pressing that remote more than I would probably would need to. Just like you said, every 90's GM I know flashes the lights when the button is pushed.
It can't be that hard wiring it up a way so it would do that ??? Doesn't anyone have an idea ?

Re: Keyless entry - visible confirmation
Actually, the 96 also has visible confirmation. There's several options you can pick for what your car does when it locks/unlocks. Hopefully, you still have your manual, because it's stated inside.
Options include: lights only, horn only, lights and horn, some others...
It can be set by your remote...haven't done it in a while..it's in the manual. If you still need info...I can get my manual later today and get you instructions.
But yes, the 96 DOES have visible confimation. I set mine to horn and lights.

Re: Keyless entry - visible confirmation
That is probably not a problem with the alarm. The alarm system is designed to make sure the headlights are closed when arming. When you have a stripped gear in the motor the alarm system doesn't get the correct resistance when checking that the headlights are closed so it opens and closes them to make sure. Fixing the stripped gear will take care of the problem.
BTW, there is no setting you can program on the alarm that will make it open the headlights. Your settings aren't being changed - it's just the alarm over-reacting to the headlight gear problem
thats from ls1tech, it seems alot of people have the same problem
