Keyless entry not working need help

The keyless entry on my '95 Z28 mysteriously stopped working, so I replaced the batteries in both of the key fob transmitters. I rarely drive the car, so I'm assuming that the batteries in both transmitters died, as they were 7 years old.

Do I need to do something to get them working again or re-program them?

Re: Keyless entry not working need help

There should not be any reprogramming needed. If you happen to need it, there is programming info on my Tech Page.

Re: Keyless entry not working need help

Could both of the transmitters just no longer work? Is there a way to test them? Or should I just try the re-programming strategy?

Thanks!

Re: Keyless entry not working need help

Sometimes my unit does not respond correctly, but I can tell the signal is getting to the receiver in the car, because the interior lights come on (but the doors won't lock or unlock). Step 2 of the programming procedure will tell you if the fob is communicating with the receiver, but won't tell you which one is bad if they don't communicate.

Should I just buy new key fob transmitters? Only available through the dealer?

Mine worked like crap till I took it apart and dried out the condensation inside and cleaned the contacts on the membrane with contact cleaner.

I wouldn't buy anything without some testing, first. Highly doubtful that both fobs quit at the same time, don't you think? I have heard of people getting fobs off Ebay.
