keyless entry chip-- where to install? *pic*
keyless entry chip-- where to install? *pic*
I bought this from a board member.. he specifies thats its for a 1995 Camaro Z28... so I bought it... where does the "chip" go? I'm pretty sure my car used to have keyless entry but the previous owner did something to it.
Can someone tell me where the "chip" goes?

Do I need extra hardware?

I think you're both wrong. That thing is a dealer installed starter interupt device. The "key" just completes a circuit to allow the starter to engage. It's only aplicable if you actually have the system. This is assuming you're not refering to the key fob (which is also in the picture).

Well, you're right max.
I have the keyless entry reciever but theres nothing there for a chip. I even took it apart; the chip definitely doesnt go there.

So what are you trying to acomplish? Is the keyless entry not recognizing the key fob? If so, there is a relearn proceedure for this. It may be in your owners manual. Can't help you more than that, I own a Y body and it's a different system.

Put a jumper between the upper right and lower left holes on the ALDL. The locks will cycle and the hatch will pop. Hit a button on the remote. Locks will cycle again. PUll the jumper and you're done.

Max, thanks for trying to help.
I was just trying to get the remote to work. I have the system in my car but the previous owner didnt have a remote. So I bought the remote and a "chip" from another 1995 Z28.
Ryan, thanks, I will try that as soon as I can..! I hope it works! All I have to do it connect the first column (2) on the left on the ALDL (DLC) and hit any button on the remote?

Thanks Ryan it works!!!!!!
Well, mostly lol.. the trunk opens and the doors unlock. For some reason it wont lock them but I know its recieving atleast part of the transmission because the interior lights still come on. Can the batteries be low? Can I use a reciever from another model year camaro? What about an aftermarket remote?
Thanks again Ryan!!

Try changing the batteries out, more than likely that could be your problem. Do a search for "remotes" or something like that and you will find that some on this board have taken their remotes apart and carefully cleaned some connections will alcohol and have found success. Also, I don't believe an aftermarket transmitter will work. You can find remotes on Ebay fairly cheap.
