Key Will Not Turn
Key Will Not Turn
I have a '94 Camaro, bought at an auction, with no key. I ordered a new key from our local dealer using the VIN, but it does not work. They seem to think the switch has been changed. If I go to a salvage yard and get a switch with a key, they say this is not a sure thing since the coded key needs to match with a code reader, located somewhere in the bowels of the dash. Where is this located, and what does it look like. I have the switch, but need to go find the box that matches.
If you took it to a locksmith they can measure the resistor that goes to your car and make a key that will fit the car and work correctly. There is a way to bypass the vats and are several threads on this site. Then you just need a key that works and don't need to worry about the rest but then part of the cars security wont work.
