instrument cluster

on mu instrument cluster i noticed at night the light on it is not steady it looks like its loosing some power and its causing it not to have a steady voltage is there something that might be causing it. i have a optima battery so i don't think voltage should be an issue

What happens to the volt meter on the dash when the dash lights are flickering (if that's what they are doing)? Does the needle move toward the red when the dash lights dim? The volt meter will tell you if you have a system voltage problem.

With the experience i've had with Optima batteries, i wouldn't rule it out just because you have one. I'm with Fred, what's your volt meter telling you?

Popular Hot Rodding had a terrific article on testing for, finding and fixing electrical problems. One of the topics was the dash / instrument / gauge wiring. I have saved the article so let me look it over again and see if there's something there that might be of help.
