Installing headers tomorrow!

Has anyone used an engine hoist to lift the front of your car to install long tubes? My friends 1.5 ton hoist is still here from us doing the motor mounts and im trying to figure out how to get my car 31 inches off the ground in front. Im not sure if this is possible or safe???

Re: Installing headers tomorrow!

I have heard of people doing it, but I didn't have to go that route. On the drivers side, I had to pop the steering shaft and jack the car up to the full extentions of the floor jack to get the header in through the bottom. On the passenger side, I had to remove the starter, alternator, valve cover, and heat shields and slid the header in from the top. I didn't have to undo the motor mounts and jack up the motor at all during the install.

I did mine with a regular floor jack and stands.

What you don't own a fork lift. I think it was LS1tech there was some pics of a guy using a forklift to lift up the front of his LS1 car to install some LTs. He said he had done several that way.
