Wow....what a difference! I swear the window goes up and down faster than when the car was new! I just did the drivers side with a motor from Auto Zone. It took me about two hours since I had to search the garage for tools I needed. The rivets drilled out very easily and the motor dropped right out. I used the screws and nuts that came with the new motor to mount it back in. The screws had lock washers on them so I hope they hold. In hind sight I think I should have used a little thread lock on the screws, but I think I'll be ok. The dealer quoted me $500.00 to do the job. All I paid was the cost of the motor which was around $60 dollars!
I do have a question though... My passenger side window is a little slow, but still works OK. The motor was replaced once by the dealership when the car was under warranty. Is it safe to assume the dealership's mechanic drilled the holes to install the new motor? I don't see how he could have done it unless he took the door off and took it completely apart.

When I worked at the dealer I always took the complete regulator out and everything got riveted and inspected/lubed.
$500-$60= $440........how much did you donate to shbx? has a paypal for supporting the site.....

While we're on the subject, I too have use shoebox's guide for replacing the window motor. Spot on. Took me 15 minutes thanks to the guide showing the spots where all the rivets where. Use a dremel with a cone shaped grinding head and it goes so much smoother.
