Re: i. hate. my. car.

well i finally was able to get a hold of the person who had it before the previous owner. they said it was having problems then and they took it to autozone. put in high performance wires and plugs and reset the 02 sensors and then it worked fine. autozone said it might be a coil, the MAFS, or the ICM possibly. i just don't get it because the last person who had it said it worked fine...and now it runs like ***.

Re: i. hate. my. car.

I still think you have a wire that is arcing somewhere. Check at night man, even if they bought auto zone performance wires, they are sh*t. Before you go spending more money its worth the check.

Re: i. hate. my. car.

i unplugged the MAF sensor and ran it. still misfires. guess that's eliminated.

any chance that it's the ignition control module.

Re: i. hate. my. car.

if news wires/plugs solved the problem before, maybe it's the same issue now, or coils. i'm going to buy new coils on saturday. it'll be cheaper than the cost of plugs and installation.

Re: i. hate. my. car.

i just installed 3 new coils. same problem. i also realized something when i was installing these. before, when i thought it was checking the plugs, i was actually just pulling the boot off of the coil. i'm such an idiot. i was supposed to have the coils installed tomorrow, but maybe he'll be able to do the plugs instead. i don't know he much time he's allowing for this. but please dear God, let it be a plug.

Re: i. hate. my. car.

i had it looked at again today. all the sensors were checked, and are working fine. injectors 5 and 6 weren't working the other day, but now all injectors are suddenly working fine. he test drove the car and said it "had amazing power." he also "ran upper engine clean out through the engine." the car idles and runs smoother now. he said that it sounds like it might be an ECM problem because all sensors are working fine, and the injectors just suddenly decide to work whenever they want to. so he said that reflashing the ECM might be the answer.

i called up a different chevy dealership about 30 miles away and explained my problem to them. the guy said it sounded exactly like the injectors need to be replaced, even though i've had the fuel system cleaned more than once and i've run 3+ bottle of cleaner through. he said the reason it keep switching injectors is because there "is junk floating around in there and it's just a matter of catching it at the right time." but at least i've gotten somewhere now.

-all sensors working correctly
-plugs/wires/coils are good

and it sounds like it's finally down between bad injectors and a possible ECM issues. but if it were the ECM, wouldn't there be more problems besides the misfire? how much does flashing usually cost?

i guess if it's injectors, it's just a matter of getting it all covered under warranty. just how could it be bad injectors if they're working fine ATM though.

Re: i. hate. my. car.

the thing with cleaner is this: old vehicle get build up inside the tank. when you run cleaner through it most (not sure about seafoam) contain alcohol which strips the deposits, if done regularly this isnt that bad but if the deposits are big the travel through the fuel system, the filter will catch everything in the tank but whats after the filter? nothing but your injectors, of a big enough deposit gets in there it will clog it.

Just fyi, after all these cleaning, if wont hurt to change your fuel filter. But this doesnt sound like a dirty filter.
