Talking I DID IT! It is done, motor complete and alive

My first complete engine build.....Sob

Man, it is like a newborn crying, except this one spits and sputters, and shakes, and.....wait,.....no, that's the GM847 CAM in this baby!

Woohoo, I'm just so happy. Can't wait to get it tuned to see what I've created......from the bearings out to the air filter, every nut and bolt torqued and streched, every bore miced and journal miced, every clearance checked, every port ported and polished, every valve installed, oh man what a feeling.

I think everyone ought to do this once if they are really interested in building one. This is a whole lot better feeling than the transmission that I done.

Ok. I've got it all out of my system, Thanks for reading and smiling.

Congratulations man! I know the feeling you're talking about, and for a little while it is the best feeling ever. It can be even better than sex if the right cam and exhaust are thumping away for the first time! Just wait until you take it out and stand on it. I think my motor had ~2 miles on it he first time I stood on it.(It's a roller motor, just seat the rings and go). Congrats and happy tuning.

As far as being better than sex, well it has to be right up there with the first time sex

She pretty fast so far, and I'm still breaking it in. It's just so hard keeping those rpms below 3500.

Once I get some times, I'll be sure to post them.

It won't be long, I'll experience my first nitrous shot.

that will be a rush

also i have never heard of keeping it under 3500, from my understanding you should be under 4 or 5 and mixing up the rpms a lot.

Well, I've seen 4 several times, it happens so fast.

I've been taking it easy on the ole girl, every now and then I push it just a tad, I don't want her to be broken in for a grandma car.

Awesome! How long did it take you to do it? I am debating on having mine built by a reputable shop or doing it myself. The expensive tools that I dont own is stopping me.

I posted in LT1 Engine Tech to try and get a conscensious. The guys in my town rape you and dont supply any lube.
