question

so i goto a car dealer today, and they just so happen to have a 99 formula for sale. has 22k mi, hard top, m6, leather. im trading in my 96 ta a4, and theyre giving me 6 for it. im looking at walking out the door at 16000. sound like a good deal?? i think it does, but any input is appreciated. and since it has 22k, can i still take it to a dealer and have work done under warranty??

Re: question

the price of the car is 12000. i have to trade in mine, just because i cant afford to make payments on both. i owe 9000 on mine, the dealer will give me 6000. so i have to add 3 on top of the 12, and im at 15, with taxes and stuff it comes to 16000.

Re: question

damn..you still owe $9k on yours...wow...that's about all it's worth.

if there is nothing wrong with the 96...KEEP it...why get yourself into more debt?

Re: question

there is some stuff wrong with it nothing major though, i did just rebuilt the tranny tho, theres some cosmetic stuff, needs fuel pump, needs 4 new tires( they look like slicks, lol) and its an a4. i want to have more fun driving, than just pressing the gas. and lately its been more trouble than its worth. plus, it has 144000 mi...and plus i owe 9 on it, and the value is depreciating with all the miles and stuff. i was suprised the dealer gave me 6. he first said he would give me 1500 and he was a 2000 deposit. i said how bout you give me 6000 for my car, and ill give you a 200 deposit. and they said yes. lol. but back to one of my original questions. since it has 22k mi, is it still covered under factory warranty if i take it to the dealer for something?

eidt: and the right headlight is shot, so i just disconnected them both so you have to pop the hood to put them up.. lol. the dealer went to look at it last night, and i was praying he wouldnt try to drive it anywhere. lol

Re: question

Ouch, sounds like you're in a pretty deep hole. You still owe $9k on an 8 year old car with almost 150,000 miles? I'd try to just pay your 96 of quickly and sell it.

Re: question

thats why im trading it in. the 99 formula only has 22k. the only thing i dont like about it is that its a hard top, and the seats are a funny color. like a dark purple or something. maybe maroon. im going to check the rpo's to be exact.

Re: question

No, the car is not still under the factory warranty. The factory warranty on any GM vehicle is 3 years or 36,000 miles. Your only hope is that the original owner purchased an extended warranty. The most common extended warranty on GM vehicles is the "GMPP" warranty.

Re: question

well, i bought the car. ive very pleased with it as well. driving the stick is alot more fun than just driving the auto. the car is in almost perfect condition, minus some barely noticable wear on the paint by one of the fog lights. and the seats are a funny color. but other than that, perfect. and fast too.
