How to verify SS?

How can I verify a 1998 SS is a true SS? Were the SS packages installed by SLP or GM for that year and how can I verify it. RPO...VIN...? Thanks.

On the door jamb is a white sticker with 3 digit codes. Look for WU8. If its not there...........no real SS.

you can also call slp for added info from the vin.
