I just got this car which has keyless entry but it does not work. I replaced the battery in the one I have, and then tried programming it and the car would not respond when I held the button down for the specified amount of time. Is there any other way to test if the remote is broken before I buy another one for $40?

 

Try taking the board out and cleaning the contact pads and switches with rubbing alcohol and a q tip. It fixed mine.

 

Take the board out and wash it with warm soap and water let air dry and should be good as new. You can wash any kind of board. I do it all the time with copiers and works great for tv remotes.

 

Bad idea... corrosion will set in... dont wash it with water. Use rubbing alcohol.

 

I already scrapped them a little w/ a screwdriver when I had it apart to put the bat in. They didnt look bad at all. Guess I can try and clean it agian. I am just afraid if I buy a new remote that it still wont work and something is wrong w/ the transmitter. I have a strong feeling its not the remote.

 

Check your fuses...

 

IS there a specific fuse for keyless entry? I didnt see one under the hood or inside.

Did you put the switch board back in the right way? I know I messed up on mine, and it wouldn't work until I flipped the switch board back over, dumb mistake but hey would be an easy fix.

 

Its a 96, I tried nail polish remover on the contacts (had no rubbing alcohol) and soaking the board but nothing helped.
