Lightbulb How to quiet my Loudmouth down?

Yes i've done multiple searches

Just wondering how i could quiet down my SLP Loudmouth....

could i take two 22" or two 18" bullet mufflers and put them end-to-end instead of the LM resonator? would that 'muffle' the sound better than a single bullet or borla XR1 even? I'd rather have more of a sportscar sound than a muscle car sound to tell you the truth..... plus the LM rattles the CRAP out of my car......

the LM is really loud ... its taking a toll on my hearing.

thanks!

i have two 18" bullets on my car. LTs into an orp, then a bullet on the Ypipe, then a bullet behind the axle with a hidden turndown.

sounds very strong but not horrible around town.

I had the same problem. Luckily I found someone who did a straight up trade with me, he had a hooker about 1 week old and he swapped, I was surprised. I tried putting in the dynomax bullet muffler but it didn't quiet it down at all. WHat I was going to try was using a hooker muffler Borla style, example, I was going to put the muffler in the middle of the pipe just behind the axle so half the exhaust would go through a muffler and half would just dump out.

I would just switch to a different catback.

You could always just buy the Hooker aerochamber muffler. I think it's $90. A guy I know had a loudmouth just like you and didn't like it, and welded in the Hooker aerochamber to the loudmouth tubing and loved it.

Brandon94Z28 is his screen name on this site, but he sold his Camaro, and I'm not sure how often he's on this board anymore. You could try to PM him though.

Re: How to quiet my Loudmouth down?

I used dynamat soundproofing in the rear trunk area above the muffler to cut down on the booming resonance and noise. It helped a little.

The newer LM systems have the resonator right under the driver.

I guess you could pull the seat and peel back the carpet and put down dynamat there. Some peolpe do that sort of thing to soundproof the car for high end audio.

Mine has the dual center SLP exhaust with the muffler right under the back "trunk" area so it was easy to slap the dynamat on there.
