How much should I ask for my Trans Am when I sell it?
How much should I ask for my Trans Am when I sell it?
Now, nothing's definite. However it's pretty much a given that in order to buy a new Camaro,I must first sell the Trans Am. With that in mind, do you folks who are familiar with my car have any idea what would be a realistic selling price?
It's got a $7500 engine, about $7500 worth of chassis/brakes/suspension, and had about $7500 worth of body & paint work done in 2005.
It's a rollbar equipped, 6-speed, fuel injected 1984 Trans Am with nitrous (untested but hooked up) that'll turn over 1 g on the skidpad, will get 23 MPG on the highway, and will yield a low-12 second quarter mile at 112 MPH. It's got Chromoly driveshaft and a Moser 12-bolt axle. Nice & bright yellow engine. Shiny. No rust anywhere. It shows well at local car shows. I know for a fact that it's safe to say that the car is one of a kind, especially when you consider that it's even got a prototype decoupled torque arm suspension by Unbalanced Engineering. Nothing has been left untouched.
I used it to win first place in the autocross (prepared) at the '05 National Fbody Motorsports Event, and I took third place as most outstanding third-gen.
It won the Tremec corporation's "trick stick" award at the NCMA events in 2005, for best engineered T56 retrofit.
It took home the Chris Jackson Memorial award for most outstanding GM car in 2007 at the 12th annual Michigan all-GM event.
It took a third-place in the 2008 NFME car show, even though I hadn't entered it. I was out on the track the whole time.
It just finished 3000 miles of driving to & from race tracks this summer, including a trip to Memphis, TN and back with no troubles. Close to 400 track miles at wide-open throttle, this summer alone. Dyno tested at 382 - over 400 RWHP, depending on which brand of dyno you use.
...so what kind of asking price is realistic, and where should I advertise it? See my fquick page if you want more information.
