How much lower does a Firebird sit compared to a Camaro?

How much lower does a Firebird sit compared to a Camaro? My mom bought a 2002 Firebird convertible yesterday and it sits a few inches lower than my Camaro. You can see it just from looking at our cars side by side. I can see a huge difference in how much room there is between the tire and wheel well. I have a few inches over her.

Since she doesn't really know much about cars she didn't ask what all was done to it before she bought it but I'm guessing she has lowering springs on it.

*On a side note the Firebirds might just sit lower than Camaros cause my buddy has an 87 Trans Am and it sits a lot lower than my car too but I figured it was just because his car had old springs on it.

Stock to stock, they should be the same.

exactly...

same springs, on the same frame....with similar bodies (weight wise).

so barring any spring droop, gfx or upgraded suspension...they should be the same.

the 87 could easily sit different...either due to differnt springs or just spring droop

My 2002 Z28 has "appeared" lower than almost any other (stock) F-body I've parked beside, but that's because mine has the factory GFX. But it truly IS lower than my friend's '96 TA (at least in the front) because we drove his car up onto my ramps with no problem, whereas I have to drive up on a couple 2x4's or the nose will hit the ramps first .

They should all be the same, stock for stock.

Your talking about a Firebird V6 compared to a V8 Camaro.
The 6's have softer springs and taller tires.

We have similar size tires, and she does have gfx, but I'm going by the difference between the area between the tire and wheel well. So I'm going to have her call and see if it is lowered.

not to jack, but is a TA heavier than an SS or Z28?? Hence why one might sit lower?

Maybe, if the TA has a full tank and the Camaro is on "E" . Otherwise, they should all be very, very close in weight (option for option).

The rear seems a bit beefier. Spoiler and all, bigger rear bumper.

I've heard that the firebird body has a differant cut on the front fenders, thus making it look like it sits lower.

Use a tape measure and measure the wheel well openinngs. My 02 is 28 inches in stock form. They should be the same V6 to V6 . Not the same for a V6 to V8 different springs. I dont know for sure whether convertables have a different suspention setup but for the lack of stiffness in the body Id say they would. Also from an LT1 to a LS1 might be different springs?? A 3.4 vs a 3.8 will be different too. A 12k car like mine might be higher then a similar 02 with 89k on it.

Tire size is roughly the same with 16 or 17 inch stock wheel same diameter. A 245-40-17 and a 255-50-16 are the same diameter I think?? been a few years since I looked into that

They are going to look different and measure different from various body points to the ground because of different trim. But if you measure from a hard point they should be the same )for comparable equipment) minus variations for tolerances, wear, and different equipment. I bet a 'vert sits slightly lower - same suspension parts but a bit more weight.
