how many wires on starter? where are mine?
hey guys...
pulled my engine out form the bottom and i'm getting ready to hook and clean things up now and i can only find the purple wire to the starter... inst there another one somewhere?
where does it come from .. because i just tore apart my wiring harness looking for it!!!

Well, there are two, one larger "hot" wire, and the smaller one that goes to the solenoid. I dont know which exact harness they come out of, but dig around and your bound to find it. It will have a ring terminal on the end...... On second thought, the larger wire probably comes off of the distribution block on the passenger side right behind the battery (you know that red plastic thing)

This sounds a little confussing. There are two, the large battery cable that come directly from the + side of the bat. to the large center terminal on the solenoid. And a normal size wire that comes from the Ign. starter circuit (from the bell housing/fire wall area) to the "S" terminal on the solenoid. The "S" terminal is on the inside (engine side) of the solenoid.
On older Chevy's there used to be a third wire, of normal size that also connected to the bat. cable terminal on the solenoid.

me too lmao, the only reason i remembered that is because i just did my headers last week, and i left the nut a little loose when i tried to start it....had to crawl back under there
