How to install shift light??

Anyone have any suggestions on where and how to mount a shift light in a 93Z28? Pics would be great!

How hard is the install?

Re: How to install shift light??

Install is easy. There are 3 wires. 12v switched, ground, tach. I mounted my light at the base of the A pillar with velcro and ran the wire in through the fuse panel cover on the side of the dash. You can find a switched 12 v source and ground under the dash. I ran the tach wire through the firewall and hooked into the pink/black coil wire.

Sorry, I don't remember what wire I found 12v switched on, but basically I just poked around under the dash until I found what I needed.
The light is an MSD light.

Yep, my Harlan Shift Light is in the left most vent of the 3 vents in the center of the dash.
Works great.

I had seen a few pictures of them mounted in the air vent and thought that was really cool. Anyone have any pics of the tach wire location?

No problems running them through there though with the heating & AC and stuff? That would be awesome cause it wouldnt stand out and look real tacky

I can't see the heat or cooling of the cars heater or A/C being any hotter or cooler than the heat on the dash of a closed car on a hot sunny day, or the cold on a gloomy winters night.

Re: How to install shift light??

Mine is also in the vent with no ill effects. I had a bunch of issues with the Harlan shift light and poor customer service, so I bought a Raptor performance. Its smaller than a roll of quarters, very bright, and works

You can also grab your tach signal at the ECM. Pin 13. red connector. It should be a white wire and just T into it.

Re: How to install shift light??

There's a source of switched +12V power right in the fuse box at the end of the dash. Theres a small rectangular opening labeled "IGN". Put a 1/4" female spade connector (Radio Shack) on the wire and push it onto the lug in the fuse block.
