How To Get Cigarette Lighter Socket Out?

I'm having some trouble getting my cigarette lighter socket out to hook up a rocker switch there to power other things. I've got the positive and negative leads off the back, and have tried unscrewing it and popping it out, neither with any success. Any one know how to get these suckers out?

You're not supposed to get it out. If you look at it long enough, you'll realize its two pieces MOLDED together.

I always thought they were two pieces that screwed together sandwiching the plastic in between.

hm I tried unscrewing the front from the back earlier. Guess I'll just have to bust out some pliers to get a good enough grip on the back part

It might help if you told what car you are working on. On my 1995 the panel that the socket is in just pops out when you pull on it. Simple, but hard to get hold of it firmly by the socket.
