how to get to the 12 second barrier????
i know this question has been answered a 1000´s of times, im a newbie here and cant seem to find my question around....i currently own a 1996 camaro z28 A/T
I allready have:
pace setter long tubes 1 3/4 inch primari tubes 3" colectors
air foil
Cai
3:73 gears
hypertech power programer
flow master cat back
and free do it your self upgrades like the TB bypass.
also have here to install lt4 hot cam kit. I know its not a hell of a camshaft but my fuel consuption is important.
note the car is not just for strip, street also driven daily, my best time in the 1/4 13.72@103mph on street tires dunlops
wish to hit the 12 second barrier to eat an ls1! this is gonna be hard but want to make this times on a lt1,
thanks

Converter- about a 3k stall
Ditch the hypertech and get a good dyno tune
Sticky tires
If that comes up short spray. You could probably get there on spray alone and not change the way your car drives on the street at all. I'd still reccomend a set of sticky tires and a dyno tune though.

I have a similar set-up plus an exhaust cut-out, Madz28 chip, and an underdriven crank pulley. I went 13.5 @ 105. You should be trapping 105 or more with those parts too. Then add some traction and you should be pretty damn close.
well I am probably gonna order a 3000 rpm stall converter and a couple of stiky tires, by the way do you think a 7.625 rear end would handle this tipe of tires??? wich tires would you recomend?? and wich stall converter?? sorry for all the questions, but rather do the things right that messing up bunch of stuff and throwing monney to the garbage.... thanks

for stock rims - your pretty much limited to nitto drag radials.
Also - for a stall converter - vigilante or yank seem to be the most popular
The stock rear will handle it, but nobody knows how long. Look at a rear end girdle, and you'll be good to go. My friends launching a LS1 with heads/cam and a 3600 stall on 315 DRs, and no problems yet. Auto cars are a lot easier on rears than a M6
I think tires and more practice at the strip will make a big difference (but that alone won't get you into the 12s, of course). I have fewer mods on my car than yours, and I've run a 13.68 (with a lower trap speed). That was with a completely stock (original) exhaust. I leave my Nitto DRs on the car from April thru November with no problems.
What is your 60-foot time like?
