How to fix broken clutch pedal spring?

The return spring on my clutch pedal broke, and now the pedal just rests wherever the master cylinder returns to.

Does anyone have any ideas how to replace this spring? I confess, I haven't dug through my Helm manual yet, but I will when I get home.

TIA, and have a good one,
Mike

Very easy to replace. Its like $27 at the dealer. Takes about 15 minutes to change out. You just have to take off the panel by your feet. Use some needle nose to get up in there.

Thanks for the info; I'll dig into it the next time I get a chance (which is going to be 3-4 weeks away due to being out of town).

Is that $27 just the spring, or is it a bigger assembly?

Thanks again, and have a good one,
Mike

Anyone know the part number for the spring? I haven't been able to find it yet.

TIA, and have a good one,
Mike

There isn't any clutch return spring that I know of. I think you have a problem with the clutch hydraulic system.

Ooo, that wasn't what I wanted to hear. I know I've had a hard time finding the part number; now I'm going to have to dig my head underneath and see if I can find the remnants.

I guess at worst it means I need to change out the clutch MC (and probably the slave while I'm at it.

Thanks for the info, and have a good one,
Mike

I would check and make sure the master is bolted securly to the firewall and can't move around. That's probably not the problem but could affect the clutch pedal position if it moved. If you end up needing to replace the hydraulics I would get the complete system from GM. It comes prebled ready to install and includes the master and slave. The part # is 12559912 . gmpartsdirect.com shows the price $128 shipped.

Yes there is. Well At least my car does, and I went ahead and changed it. It was $27 at the dealer. I dont know the part number but sure enough there is such a thing. I have a 2000 T/A.

Maybe a 2000 is different but my 94 didn't have any springs attached to the clutch pedal and I don't see any reference to one in my Helm manual or parts book. If he has one the spring or parts of it should still be in the car.
