How to? Factory exhaust tip alignment.

Hi all, the name is Brian and I just recently purchased a 1994 Z28, 6spd. I picked up a set of factory Z28 exhaust tips to replace the plain pipes now on the car and was wondering how the tips where centered from the centerline of the car from factory, as they are both offset in the same direction? Seems odd I would have thought one would go to the left and one the right but not so.

Thanks

one goes one way, the other goes the other.
Not trying to be rude, but they can only go 2 ways, just try it out

Not that you are sounding rude at all, but I wish it was that easy. Maybe I have been sold 2 for the same side but I have seen a few sets sold the same way these where. When viewed from the top and what would be the rear of the car they both seem to have the inlet to the left. Did the factory tailpipes have a jog in them to make up for this or was it accomplished just by the distance before turning to the rear of the car after exiting the muffler?

I know what you mean.

They are both one direction and I think the passenger pipe is pushed more to the center so that tip allignes up in the same spot on both sides of the car.

Sorta like that, but on both sides.

Check out the last page in my sig, I have a firebird exhaust and it looks exactly like the camaro Z28 one. it will give you an idea of how the factory one looks.

Thank-you Chris. That is exactly what I needed. I looked all over for a photo showing that layout. There are all kinds of shots of aftermarket stuff and I don't think is a Camaro in our area that hasn't had the exhaust modified.

Thanks again,

The tips both taper the same direction. The pipes do not exit under the bumper in exact opposite locations. The passenger side pipe is more towards the center. The tips are then put on to make it appear to be centered.
