How do I make a kill switch for my 97TA ?
How do I make a kill switch for my 97TA ?
I want to hook up a kill switch but am not sure how or what I need to do it. I also saw this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=8020818830 Is it worth buying?
Re: How do I make a kill switch for my 97TA ?
Your car already has VATS. Why do you want a kill switch? The VATS will disable the fuel pump, starter and ignition.
If someone is smart enough to get around the VATS, they are surely smart enough to bypass your simple kill switch. They would have to be seriously determined to get your car.
In most instances when a car with VATS is stolen, it is towed.

You'd have to know where the kill switch is in order to start it. Vats can be overridden by someone who knows what they're doing, a kill switch can't unless they know where it is.

The thing with a kill switch is how easy they are to find. It is a good idea, but in order for you to use it you would need to have it in a semi-easy area to access. If someone is smart enough and thinks there might be the possibility of a kill switch all that person needs to do is feel around. On the other hand, most people don't think of a kill switch being in the car, they just worry about VATS and noise.

I've got one in my car, I've yet to have someone figure out how to start my car when I throw them my keys with the challenge... and I've owned the car for 6 years.
Check out Brent94Z's website, there are step-by-step instructions there on a kill switch; then just "modify" those instructions for the actual switch to as far as you can imagine.
