alternator quit charging
replaced it and battery
battery now drains down overnite,might have already
been doing this as car is driven about every 3 months
and had to be jumped off last time.

while troubleshooting,the alarm is driving me crazy.
thought i could unplug unit
thought it was behind spare,its not.

There should be instructions in the owner's manual on how to "turn it off" so to speak. If you don't have an owner's manual, you can download one

Other than the Pass Key system, I don't beleive the 95 has an alarm system. I know the alarm system on the 97 can't be turned off. It simply arms when the keyless entry system locks.

I you drive your car only every few months. I would highly recomend a Battery Tender. It will keep the battery up and is different than a trickle charger as it only charges the battery when it starts getting low.

 

Hmph. I think you are right! I just looked through the manual and didn't see anything. Whoops

Must have an aftermarket alarm then.

On my 96 so long as I don't use the door lock switch to lock the doors after I open the door to get out (just slide it over instead) the alarm won't arm.

 

this car has a factory ,dealer?, installed gm goodwrench vehicle security system model vss-350.it has a disarm button under the dash which the owners manual says is manually disarmed by turning ignition to on and pushing button. yet everytime you reinstall battery without the key on or try to crank with semi dead battery ,the alarm goes off. connect a hot battery this afternoon and in the morning it has drained & alarm goes off when you hit the ignition switch.
