How difficult is it to replace headers with no lift?
How difficult is it to replace headers with no lift? I would like to buy some new headers for my car, but I would rather do the install myself for the experience, and not having to pay to have them installed. I have ramps that will get the car a good foot and a half or so off the ground. Also, do the headers come out on the top or bottom of the car?

I am pretty sure that when I installed MACs in my LT1 that I only had the car up on ramps. If you can get the entire car up on jack stands it makes the job a lot easier. As far as headers going in from top or bottom it really depends on the brand.

alot of us have been able to install headers without a lift. i know i did my LS1 longtube headers alone in the driveway with just jackstands.
and like stated, top or bottom depends on the brand, style and even the car type(yr).

I installed my JBAs' on some jacks in the garage. So yes it can be done. As the other say it all depends on which brand headers you use, some from the top, some from the bottom. Also if your using LT headers? I've heard, use the 3 ton jacks cause there higher then the 2 ton.

Does PaceSetter make good headers? I found a set of headers from them with 16 gauge tubing, 3/8" thick CNC steel flanges. 2-1/2" collectors, 1-1/2" primaries, and smog hookups for $235. Is that a good price?
