I've got a 98 z28 with an AC leak that I tracked down to the high side schrader valve. Problem is, the typical valve tool does not fit over it and the port is too tight to fit a set of needle nose pliers in there.

Please help or suggest any ideas..

you need special a/c schrader valve installer/removal tool. You might want to take a trip down to the auto parts store and see if they have one you can buy or rent. And I'm assuming you have a new valve already but if not I"m sure the auto parts store will have some.

 

i tried that already.. the special tool only fits the suction (low) side valves. The notches on the tool are too small to fit over the high side valve.

i used a set of channel locks to remove mine (aka vice grips)

 

Wow, I don't know how you get a pair to fit in there.. must be pretty small.
I may just go to a tool shop and buy the smallest vice gripes I can find.

 

Ended up taking it to a AC shop who ended up fabbing a tool to get it out.
