how can I tell if I have trac control????

When I floor it from a stop I can barely chirp the tires?? Just bought the car a week ago. Just hitting 200k.(trust me, got a good deal on it). I'm womdering if traction control can be causing this? Do u think if I change the tranny oil it will be able to do it? I plan on changing the plugs, wires, check pcv valve, and change the gas filter. Do u think that would help?

I just change the oil and oil filter. How can I tell if the tranny is on the way out? Is there anything else that you guys can think to do? I'm going to take it some where to get some compression numbers too. Thanks for any response in advance!

i am not aware of any 94's that came with traction control. is it the same distributor that came from the factory? do plugs, wires, change fuel filter, check your fuel pressure if it is the original fuel pump. if the tranny is leaving you could probably tell but not spinning tires is not the transmission's fault.

My car doesnt spin the tires from a stop if I go from the break to the gas...
the rear gets shaky and the tires make a rubbing noise on the pavement but no skidmarks or smoke....
However, if I hold the break to 1500 rpm and power break and then hit the
gas and let the brake loose then I can get the tires to spin pretty freely and
sometimes smoke them and if I hold it at 2k then the car advances but spins too much .....
M6 are a hella of a lot easier to spin the tires....

'94 = no ASR
no switch to turn ASR off = no ASR
no wheel speed sensor reluctors on both axles = no ASR

i have a semi-offtopic question..

does traction control ONLY kick the gas pedal back up, or does it apply brakes, too? and you mentioned two sensors, so if the front wheels start flipping traction control will kick in, too?

The system will retard timing, close the throttle, or apply the rear brakes (individually) depending upon which wheels are slipping and the rate of slippage.

There is also a large stepper motor above the drivers side valve cover with the throttle cables going to it and from it.
